Expanding Your Upper Jaw

The palatal expander gently widens your upper jaw, applying pressure to your upper molars during adjustments. This animation provides guidance on when and how to adjust your expander. Once the desired expansion is achieved, continue wearing the appliance for several months to stabilize the result and prevent regression.

Adjusting the Palatal Expander

Here are instructions for adjusting the palatal expander:

  1. Find a well-lit area and have the patient tilt their head back.
  2. Insert the key firmly into the hole.
  3. Push the key towards the back of the mouth, which will cause the fender to rotate and reveal a new hole.
  4. Press down and backwards to remove the key. You should now see the next insertion hole.
